Our fourth aquaponic farm is being built on a two hectares of land in Přerov nad Labem. Since we had no production farm in the Czech Republic, we were intensively looking for a suitable brownfield for its construction. Aquaponic products of this farm will supply the city of Prague.

Přerov nad Labem Aquaponic Farm

Our fourth aquaponic farm in the Czech Republic is beginning to take shape on two hectares of land in Přerov nad Labem. Since we had no production farm in the Czech Republic, we were intensively looking for a suitable brownfield for its construction.

The site includes renovated greenhouses with an area of 5,000 square metres, which we would like to use for growing aquaponic vegetables as well as for freshwater fish-farming.

Strategic importance of the farm

When looking for the land, we focused mainly on locations that would allow us to supply the city of Prague with aquaponic food. From this point of view, Přerov nad Labem represents a strategic location. The great advantage of this agricultural site consists in its ideal parameters for building aquaponic infrastructure.

Lettuces

Lettuces

Growing aquaponic lettuces

On the Přerov nad Labem farm, we plan to produce leafy aquaponic vegetables such as chard, pak choi, stalk celery and Lollo Bionda or Crystal Lalique lettuces.

Herbs

Herbs

Production of aquaponic herbs

The main advantages of our aquaponic produce are that it is organic, local, and grown without chemicals. The herbs we grow in Letonice—coriander, for example—are supplied to consumers both freshly cut and processed, e.g. as pesto.

Fish

Fish

Aquaponic fish farming

The fish section of the aquaponic systems on our farms is technologically based on recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). The fish are bred in breeding tanks, the size of which is defined by the target size and species of fish. To ensure the right conditions for the fish, we need to provide sufficient water flow through the tanks, remove solid debris from the tanks quickly and efficiently, keep oxygen saturation and pH at the correct values, and ensure the efficient breakdown of fish metabolic products, especially ammonia.
