What is the added value of aquaponics for fish?

By removing nitrates (NO3-) from the water, aquaponic lettuces reduce nitrates in the water for fish. And this improves their welfare and growth productivity compared to a conventional recirculation system. Fish are less stressed, and quality of their meat is better.
